Parish
I have worked for my local parish's gym. I have worked concessions since I was 13 and began to help run concessions when I was 16. I was a volleyball referee for 8 years. I worked on the scoreboard for 4 years and did the book for the last 4 years. I also was hired to help with gym set up and take down. I would come in before I was referring and set up courts and seats. After all games were over I would break everything down and restock the concessions.
Athletics
I have played softball since I was 4 years old. I was a 4-year varsity starter on my high school team. I received the Scholar-Athlete Award in high school for having a 3.8 cumulative GPA and playing a varsity sport for 4 years. I am currently starting for the Loras College softball team. I plan to play for all 4 years.Â
In high school I was a student athletic trainer my junior and senior year. We also were treated as football managers. We assisted with field set up and take down, ran errands for coaches during practice, and went to camp everyday in the summer. We had to be there before the team and coaches to do our training duties and mkaing sure everything was ready. Over the summer I voulenteered 7 hours a day Monday - Friday. Once school started we needed to stay until 7:30pm everyday then come in for 4 hours on Sunday; game days were even later.Â
This was one of the best expericences; and my first in athletics besides being a player. I knew after this I would be working in sports.
Hopeful Connections for the Future
I have created a wheel in which I have the places I would love to work in and what connections I would need to ensure a job. Most were listed due to the closeness to my home and my interest in the brand/company/person/team.
